The Unclaimed Monies Gazettes contain information about money that has been classified as unclaimed from banks, credit unions and building societies, life insurance and friendly societies and registered Australian companies.

All the information in Unclaimed Monies Gazettes is incorporated into ASIC's searchable unclaimed monies database, Fido.

Life Insurance unclaimed monies. This is money that was unclaimed for 7 years from life policies with life insurance companies and with friendly societies.

Banking unclaimed monies. This is unclaimed money from banks, credit unions and building societies. Money may have been transferred from one of these institutions to the Commonwealth Government of Australia if an account with them had not been used for over 7 years and contained a balance of $500 or more.

Unclaimed money from the compulsory acquisition of shares resulting from takeovers (Unclaimed Consideration for Compulsory Acquisition - S668A Corporations Act). Where the shares in a company are compulsorily acquired, the unclaimed money is where the shareholders who own the shares have not yet been paid out what they are owed.
