1. Background
The Unclaimed Monies Unit of the
Australian Securities &
Investments Commission (ASIC) provides an excellent tool for
individuals and businesses looking to see if they are owed any money
on lost or unclaimed bank accounts, life insurance policies,
or where their shares have been compulsorily acquired.
You can conduct a free online search
for unclaimed money at
ASIC's Fido website. |
2. A Problem
The Fido website requires you to search
on the specific name you are looking for. This is restrictive because it
only identifies names that exactly match the full or
partial name that you have requested the search on.
Any spelling difference between
what you enter and what is held on ASIC's database will result in
the search not identifying the name you are looking for. Even
a blank space between letters will produce a no find result.
And small spelling differences are very
common! |
3. Our Solution
We have compiled a database of unclaimed
monies listed in the ASIC Gazettes since 2001
[more info].
Our database includes the address
recorded for the unclaimed bank account, life policy or shareholder
concerned.
For a small fee we will send you a list
of all unclaimed monies with an address in a particular suburb or
postcode. (Or we can do a special search for a particular
person.)
A glance through the list we send you
will allow you to see if you or your clients are due any unclaimed
or lost money. See example.
